HISTORY OF THE DISTRICT:

Rock Township Ambulance District (RTAD) is an Advanced Life Support service. The district was established in 1980 and serves communities in North East Jefferson County. RTAD is a political subdivision of the state of Missouri.

The initial operating budget for 1980 was $161,861.00. That year we ran 1400 emergency calls with the estimated population of 59,000 people.

Our population has grown in leaps and bounds to our current population of 108,000. Our call volume has grown as well. Last year we ran over 4,600 calls.

RTAD is also currently providing routine transfers for district residence and others. Our ambulances are taking non-ambulatory patients back to their residence. Other transfers take patients from hospital to hospital.

Our employees are all required to carry current certification in the following fields:

1. Advanced Cardiac Life Support. (ACLS)

2. Basic Life Support or PreHospital Trauma Life Support. (BTLS / PHTLS)

3. Pediatric Advanced Life Support. (PALS)

4. Invasive Procedures.

5. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.

Employees at RTAD have their skill tested annually. Each employee is ran through a Skills Review Program put together with our medical control hospital. Our medical control hospital is St. Anthony's Medical Center.

Patient Care issues are channeled through our highly critical Quality Improvement Program. This program is a product of a group effort between our medical control, Missouri Department of Emergency Medial Services, and the Rock Township Ambulance District.

Rock Township Ambulance District depends on its user fees and taxes to run the district. We have not increased our tax base for over 13 years. With all the High Tech equipment now on the market and increasing operation cost, RTAD may go to the tax payers for an increase in the near future.

STATISTICS
Often the Rock Township Ambulance District is confused with the Rock Community Fire Protection District. We are two separate entities and rely on two separate operating budgets. RTAD and RCFPD work together to provide Emergency Medical Care but the Rock Township Ambulance District provides transport to the hospital.
